Who we are

Storytellers, organizers, educators, and technologists building infrastructure for collective knowledge.

Paths converging

We didn't set out to build this. We realized we already were.

We'd been moving in parallel orbits for years. Some of us traced back to the Table of Free Voices in Berlin, 2006. Others came up through documentary film, community organizing, education. Different bodies of work. Different communities. But the same underlying question: how do we create the conditions where wisdom can actually move?

At some point, we looked around and saw it. The storytellers, the organizers, the educators, the pattern-seekers. We'd each been building pieces of something larger without realizing others were building adjacent pieces. What if we stopped working in parallel and started working together?

We'd each been building pieces of something larger

So that's Civic Designers. People with deep relationships and decades of practice, bringing different forms of knowledge into the same room. Not because we have it all figured out, but because we realized the work we care about requires more than any one of us can do alone.
